"The comfort of familiar, nourishing food is hugely enjoyable, of course, but it's the sense of coming back to something that's truly special. "In many ways, playing Overcooked 2 is like returning to a favourite restaurant after a long absence and ordering what you always used to have," Johnny said in a surprising foreshadowing of the pandemic back in 2018, when he reviewed Overcooked 2 for Eurogamer. The new content will bring "a combo of sunshine and celebration to the Onion Kingdom", publisher Team17 said in a press release, adding: "With new chefs, kitchens and recipes, you're sure to have a sizzling good time!"

The update - which is free - boasts a "new pair of lovable canine chefs who are ready to help (or hinder) players in the heat of the kitchen", summer recipes such as an ice cream float or a summer salad, new levels that take you to five new destinations, and a summer celebration with a parade in which you can "expect fireworks, confetti, and floats to spice up your game".

While you’ll still plow through the content in a fairly short amount of time, it still takes a bit of effort to earn a three star rank for all the different levels.Overcooked 2's next serving of DLC, Sun's Out Buns Out, is out on PC on 5th July, 2020, with a console release coming "later this month". The new recipes and mechanics spice things up, and make sure that it never gets dull in an already overly chaotic kitchen environment.

Overcooked 2’s Campfire Cook Off is certainly a great expansion for an already great title. Playing through the levels will also grant you a few new chef characters to play with. This is certainly welcome, but can feel a bit overwhelming when playing with only two players, or alone. It’s also noticeable that many of the kitchens in this expansions have been made for four players, as you’ll often find a lot of campfires to maintain, have many chopping blocks at your disposal and so on.

More than often you’ll have to work together perfectly in order to reach the highest score possible to get that three star rank. The difficulty again feels a bit higher than in the base game, which later added a four stars option to provide a bigger challenge. The game itself doesn’t change that much, and you’ll pretty much get the same amount of content as you did in the Surf ‘n Turf expansion, which will certainly occupy you for a bit if you want to get three stars in all levels. Other new recipes are also found in the form of new meat and beans, in order to make a hearty breakfast. You’ll have to keep a campfire burning in order to roast marshmallows, or you’ll run around with a backpack with supplies, forcing other chefs to come to you, rather than get their supplies from a fixed point on the map. In this expansion we are treated to fifteen new levels, each having their own unique layout and offering you several new recipes and some special mechanics. We were ready to withstand the pressure in the kitchen, while working together with up to three friends to beat the odds in this wacky cooking game. This time the theme seems to be camping, campfires, marshmallows and hearty breakfasts. Now you’ll have the option to buy a Season Pass, which will grant you even more content if you have plowed through the original story, the holiday update and the Surf ‘n Turf expansion. In Overcooked 2 we were treated to more content, more chefs and above all, more DLC, including free holiday updates. The original Overcooked took the world by storm and it didn’t take that long before a sequel saw the light.
